San Jacinto City Council to meet on Tuesday
The San Jacinto City Council will convene for a regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center, located at 625 S. Pico Avenue.
The council will address a variety of items, including discussion of cannabis tax rates, and several resolutions concerning annexations and detachments from community facilities districts. The meeting will be broadcast via livestream.
The main topic will be discussion and direction on cannabis tax rates. The council will consider information and provide direction on the Cannabis Business Tax. In 2016, San Jacinto voters approved a measure allowing the City Council to impose taxes on commercial cannabis businesses up to $50 per dollar of gross receipts.
The council previously voted to reduce the tax on dispensaries and microbusinesses to 10% of gross receipts, effective January 1, 2025. The council is now reconsidering the tax rate, with options including maintaining the 10% rate, increasing it to 15%, or adopting a different rate.
The council will also consider a proposed ordinance to update participation in the Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) program and a resolution adopting a TUMF schedule.
