MSJC earns first win of the season at San Diego CC, 6-1
Mt. San Jacinto College defeated San Diego City College 6-1 Saturday in a game that saw a strong performance by the Mt. San Jacinto pitching staff. Chad Horton earned the win for Mt. San Jacinto, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing seven hits, striking out three and hitting one batter.
The Mt. San Jacinto offense broke through in the fourth inning when Matt Rezkalah walked with the bases loaded, scoring Louie Arias and giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead. The Eagles added to their lead in the sixth inning, with four runs.
Arias drove in a run, Steven Kirtides had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly from Juni Rodriguez made it 6-0.San Diego City scored their lone run in the eighth inning when I. Alba singled to center field, driving in J. Cameron, but it was not enough to mount a comeback. Mt. San Jacinto’s Gavin Warner gave up one run in the eighth but Marcos Cisneros closed out the game for the Eagles.
